Everybody who is a little older (please don’t look at me) knows there was a bunch of blockbusters in the 80’s which changed the movie industry. Back to the Future (1985), Ghostbusters (1984), E.T the Extra-Terrestrial (1982) and Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981) to name but a few, all propelled their actors into star-dom.
That very same period marked the beginning of stardom for another actor, namely Tom Cruise, who literally took off in his F-14, never to return to the regular life of mortals like us. And even though he made tons of other movies (and wives for that matter), after his initial Top Gun success, he never looked as clean, sharp and cool as he did in that movie.
Luckily enough, Hollywood likes repeats and re-makes and talks about a sequel to Top Gun. This has been on the table for almost three decades, only to become reality next year as Tom Cruise himself just confirmed earlier this month.
Don’t rush to your local movie theater just yet… There’s still a massive amount of work to be done. Tom Cruise is currently still shooting Mission Impossible 6 (how many impossible missions can you have, or rather, how much longer can you milk that cow?!) for which he still has to do a lot of production and promotion work. The poor guy will only have time for Top Gun2 in his busy schedule in the summer of next year.
For the AvGeeks among us
One of the reasons why Top Gun was such a success is because there are a lot of AvGeeks (for the ones that don’t understand this term, you’ll probably skip this paragraph) who went to see the movie just for the great aircraft footage.
Seeing F-14 Tomcats chasing some MIGs around surely gave some AvGeeks a second morning glory. However, 3 decades later those beautiful aircraft became museum pieces so we’ll have to see what they come up with for the second movie.
My money is on the new F-35 “Joint Strike Fighter”.
Anyway, would you put your money on one of those aircrafts, or rather on something which is much more fun, like our Untamed Crowned Eagle slot? Soar through the air like a fighter pilot – without the risk of going up in ball of fire and being roasted to a crisp, while having all the fun and winning sensations! Where can you experience these feelings of glory, you ask? Why here, at the Euro Palace Online Casino!
Top or flop?
Top Gun made more than just one movie star. Val Kilmer, who played Iceman in the first movie also cashed in on the success.
Will he be back in the sequel? We don’t know yet, and nor does Val himself. Right after Tom confirmed the fact that Top Gun 2 would be made, Val Kilmer send out a tweet with a very clear message…Applying for the job via Twitter, sure, .why not. Question is… does he still have the guns to be top? Or has his jet run out of fuel?
Men in uniform
We all know how this is going to turn out. The girls are gonna go crazy for this movie, not only because they still think Tom Cruise is looking the part (even though he’s a guy in his 50’s who probably using too many creams and who knows what else to keep looking like a 25 year old), but also because they love men in uniforms!
Husbands, accompany your wives, else they might just get some funny ideas about men in uniforms 😉 But I guess that’s just how Hollywood makes sequels like this one work – men in uniforms!
Do you agree, that men in uniform are more attractive and better looking? Let us know!
