Essential Online Craps Strategies

There is no question that online Craps is a fun, fast paced game. Bets are made, dice are thrown, and winners or losers are declared. But, for those who take their gambling time more seriously, there is a whole world of strategies that can be applied to the game.

Understanding which online Craps bets are the best, which are less generous, and how the house edge applies in each situation is all key to being a better player, and potentially walking away with more cash in your pocket.

It is first important to understand that online Craps offers some of the best odds of winning out of any popular casino game. Though this doesn’t mean that every bet is the right bet. Some bets have an incredibly low house edge, which is good for you, while others have a very high house edge. Knowing the difference is not just important, it is essential if you want to get the most out of your time playing the game.

Pass And Don’t Pass

The best bets to make in online Craps are by far the Pass Line, and Don’t Pass Line. This is good news, since they are also the easiest to understand. Betting on the Pass Line means that you are predicting that the Shooter, or dice thrower, will roll a 7 or 11. If the dice land on 2, 3 or 12, that bet is lost. However, if a bet has been placed on Don’t Pass, a 2, 3 or 12 would result in a win.

It technically doesn’t matter which of these bets you choose, since the chances of winning for either are almost identical. The important thing to keep in mind is that the house edge for either of these bets is an incredibly low 1.4%, with payouts being even money. Though, the general feeling at a Craps table is that if you bet on Don’t Pass, you are betting against the shooter. Some may take offense to this. However, in the world of online Craps that hardly matters!

But keep in mind that if the Shooter succeeds in a Pass Line throw, the round isn’t over. The dice are thrown again, until a 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10 are rolled. This number then becomes the Point. The shooter keeps rolling, until that number is rolled again, or a 7. During this second phase of the round, additional betting options are opened, which offer odds of their own.

Other Betting Options

There are a host of other betting options in online Craps, with a drastically different house edge for each. It can get confusing, and to some extent many are even put off trying, given that they don’t have a clue that’s going on.

In terms of getting the best bang for your buck, however, Taking the Odds and Laying the Odds are options that literally have a 0% house edge. This is a little deceiving, however, since you will already have had to place a Pass Line or Don’t Pass bet in order for these options to become available.

Very simply, this additional bet can be taken after the Pass Line has been achieved. Taking the Odds means that you are wagering that the Point will be hit before the 7. Laying the Odds means that you are betting that the 7 will be rolled first.

Although these are optional bets, they are some of very few bets in the gambling world as a whole that have a 0% house edge. This makes them extremely appealing wagers, though of course, they do come with risks of their own. And that’s what make’s playing online Craps so much fun!
