The Oktoberfest is right around the corner and we all know there will be as many people as there is beer in the wonderful city of Munich. So how do you make sure you get into the VIP lane, stand out of the crowd and make sure you can relax after a day of beer madness? Easy….experience the festivities like a millionaire by staying in one of the most luxurious hotels in the city. Let me give you the shortlist.
Mandarin Oriental Munich
The name and fame of the Mandarin Oriental hotels should give you a good indication of what to expect when staying at this luxury hotel. Recent major renovations to the bar and lobby made this property even more appealing. The location of the hotel is great, but even more so during the Oktoberfest as it backs on the famous Hofbrähaus beer cellar, which is one of the major attractions during the festivities. It only has 48 rooms and 25 suites, giving it a boutique feel and allowing the staff to give you a more personalized service. It also means you need to be quick to snatch availability during busy periods like the Oktoberfest. One of the highlights of the hotel is the rooftop pool, which gives you a great view over the city, while enjoying the sun, the pool and a nice drink.
The Charles hotel Munich
It might not be part of a big hotel chain, but this hotel is quintessential German practicality. A great location near the main train station, a no frills approach to style and design, great breakfast (Germans love their breakfast and on weekends they serve it till 2 pm, probably as a cure for that beer hang-over) and a kids club to make sure you can go enjoy the bier mania while the kids are having fun at the hotel.
And while you can enjoy the golden liquid at Munich during the month of October, Euro Palace has it’s own golden party, though you can enjoy it year round! Our Gold Factory slot will make you thirsty for gold and riches.
Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski
This is one of the most historic hotels in the city, which doesn’t come as a surprise knowing it opened its doors in 1858. Back then it was already a true luxury retreat with hot water and gas lighting. These days it’s the perfect mix between the classical features of the hotel, and the modernity to let the guests enjoy true 21st century luxury. The hotel is also known for its afternoon tea, but also for pre-show cocktails and wine as the Bavarian State Opera is just a few meters down the road.
Sofitel Munich Bayerpost
With the Oktoberfest’s Theresienwiese station just one U-Bahn stop away, this luxury hotel has one of the best locations in town. But it has much more to offer. Housed in the former city’s Royal Post Office, which was constructed between 1896 and 1900, you’ll be straight away impressed when you drive up to the hotel. Inside you will find the modern and design-oriented style which Sofitel is known for. As it is a French hotel chain, the staff will greet visitors with “bonjour”, which might give you the impression you’re visiting Paris, instead of Munich.
So, which hotel has your preference? And would you consider visiting Munich during the Oktoberfest? Let us know, we would love to hear from you!
