Bringing young adult fiction to the big screen seems to be all the rage in Hollywood, and now Brad Pitt is joining the club by making Illuminae into a movie. With the success of franchises such as The Hunger Games and Divergence, there’s every chance that Pitt might be onto a box office hit with this already popular title. Having only been released in October this year, Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff’s book has received rave reviews, topping best seller lists all over the globe.

What is Illuminae about?

Set in the year 2575, Illuminate tells the story of Kady, a teenage hacker, and her fighter pilot ex-boyfriend. Together, they are struggling through a broken relationship while joining forces to unearth a conspiracy about an intergalactic war. The story sees the pair dealing with an unknown alien race, fighting a rogue artificial intelligence called AIDEN, all the while trying to survive a deadly virus. One reason for the book’s popularity is its unusual format. The book is like a dossier of found documents, which includes instant messages, emails, classified files, medical records, and casualty lists. Illuminae the movie will very likely be released next year.

Have your say: which slot would you like to see made into a movie?

We can come up with a couple of options.  What about Gold Factory or even Immortal Romance? The former reminds me a lot of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, while Immortal Romance already boasts a storyline laden with vampires, withes and forbidden love.
