Android 5.0 Lollipop tips & tricks
Devices running on the Android 5.0 Lollipop OS will prove more than handy for users. Android devices continue to impress, and the 5.0 update does wonders for usability, customization, and design. In fact, it is, in my opinion, a must have.
More impressive than the standard features of the latest updates are the tips and tricks
that make using devices containing the update even easier to use, and the shortcuts are very clever too. Overall, it is safe to say that Lollipop sees a huge improvement from Android 4.4. Not only does it sync your mobile phone and tablet for the ultimate ease of access, it also links your Android Watch, if you have one.
There are more than enough shortcuts to your favourite apps, and hundreds of ways to do everything you would need to do with a smart device. 5.0 Lollipop is indeed super easy to use, but we still managed to dig up some shortcuts and tricks to make it even easier. These tricks will impress users who prefer to get things done in the shortest possible time, in the quickest ways.
You can grant multiple users access to your device by creating profiles. Different profiles will have access to different apps and features. To start creating apps, simply pull the notification bar and tap on the profile picture in the right hand corner. You can create profiles by selecting Add user. Secure your profile with a PIN or Password.
Pin your screen
If you’re still concerned for your privacy then pin apps to your screen so that other users cannot access your device further than the app on the screen. To do this, go to Security via Settings and scroll down to Screen pinning. Select Overview and tap on the green pin on each app. This will stick the app to the screen. You can then choose to unpin the apps by entering a password, PIN, or security pattern.
Save battery life
You can view general information about the device’s battery by going to Settings and then to Battery. However, there is a nifty Battery saver option which you can set to automatically activate when the battery reaches a certain percentage. When this kicks in, certain functions such as vibrations and background apps will be limited. The feature turns off as soon as you connect the device to the charger.
Using the Smart Lock allow you to quickly unlock your device when you’ve secured with a PIN or password. The Smart Lock can unlock your phone when you are in specific places or when Bluetooth or NFC accessories are active.
